The Dental Implant Process
Implant Placement
Our dental experts will surgically implant titanium posts into your jawbone in specific locations to support your new teeth, while also promoting the health of your jawbone. Afterward, we allow your mouth to heal and the implants to fuse with your jawbone.
Implant Stability Check
Upon your return for the follow-up appointment, we will use our Periotest® technology to assess the readiness of your jaw. This portable device helps us measure the fusion of titanium and bone, allowing us to evaluate the stability of implants and the viability of dentures.
Denture Placement
We then insert a custom-designed denture that enhances your smile and increases your self-esteem. We provide both fixed dentures, offering a secure and low-maintenance support system, and removable dentures that attach to your titanium implants, providing comparable support while being effortless to detach, clean, and reattach.
Aftercare and Healing Support
Our support and attention continue after the denture is placed! We also provide technology that can enhance healing and simplify the post-treatment process. Our Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) therapy involves using a portion of your blood to extract and then re-introduce the platelets into your surgical sites, resulting in a quicker and more efficient healing process.

Leaving a missing tooth can cause a jaw to deteriorate over time and this can cause your face to sink in and look unnatural. Dental implants replace the tooth root and this helps to preserve the bone in the jaw and create a stability that will last. Implants are strong and will last for years without the need for replacement. We provide a detailed consultation for patients seeking tooth replacement options. Our doctors will thoroughly examine your mouth and teeth, and help you choose the right option that fits your needs. Our team will look at severity, location, health history, and budget, and help you restore your smile so you can feel confident again. Let PCCD help you take the first step towards a brand-new smile with dental implants.
Dental bridges are another form of tooth replacement and require the support of adjacent teeth. They can be placed permanently and provide comfort and a solution for missing teeth. Dental bridges look natural and are typically less expensive compared to dental implants. Bridges do not require any invasive surgery but do need to be replaced between 5-7 years.
If any of the supporting teeth are compromised, this can also compromise the dental bridge and require immediate treatment. Bridges have become less popular now that dental implants are available. Implants do not rely on adjacent teeth and a single implant or multiple can be placed, and last for years without the need for replacement. Dental implants retain their natural look longer and do not damage healthy teeth around the implant.
At Peninsula Center of Cosmetic Dentistry, we understand that cost is an important factor when considering a significant investment like dental implants. That's why we discuss costs upfront during our consultation process and assist in answering any insurance or coverage questions. We offer financing options and payment plans to ensure every patient can receive the dental care they need.
Dental insurance plans vary, and typically do not cover implants, although some may cover up to 50% for dental implant surgery. We recommend patients check with their insurance provider and review their deductible to determine what is required to be paid upfront. In some cases, medical insurance policies may cover dental implants, depending on the policy and any pre-existing conditions. The cost of dental implants varies based on case severity and the number of implants required.
However, implants are a long-term investment designed to last without the need for replacement, unlike other restorative options such as dentures. Investing in your smile can provide a permanent solution and prevent jaw deterioration as you age. At PCCD, we are committed to helping our patients receive the care they need to achieve the perfect smile.
While dental implants may seem costly initially, they are a worthwhile financial investment that can last a lifetime. Without treatment, patients risk further deterioration of their teeth and jaw, likely requiring more extensive and costly interventions in the future. Choosing implants can save you time and money in the long run, allowing you to enjoy a beautiful, healthy smile for years to come.
Our detailed evaluation process can determine if you are a good candidate for dental implants. In most cases, all patients are good candidates, but we like to look at your health history, and the condition of your teeth and mouth among other things to ensure implants are the right choice. If you have any of the following you may be a good candidate:
- Missing, broken, or cracked teeth and want a permanent solution.
- Jaw is sunken in.
- Teeth are not functioning properly.
- It is hard to speak or eat.
- Patient has adequate bone in the jaw for proper support.
- Current dentures, partials, or bridge are loose-fitting or bothering you.
Dentures are an appliance that is custom-made to help restore missing teeth and overall mouth function. This method of replacement is typically more affordable compared to implants, but this option is removable. Dentures can slip and click, cause discomfort, and must be removed daily for cleaning. Dental implants are inserted into the jaw and act similar to a tooth root. The implant bonds with the jawbone during a healing period, and creates a base of support for the replacement tooth. Implants are permanent and do not need to be removed for cleaning. They are comfortable and do not cause irritation or rub against the gum tissue.
